As a financial services lawyer, Senior Associate Sarah Kopec assists open- & closed-ended investment funds with launches, mergers and regulatory updates.
Sarah advises on a wide range of financial services work, notably fund formation, changes and regulation in respect of UK authorised funds.
Sarah regularly advises asset managers on a full spectrum of projects, from new fund launches and prospectus updates to fund mergers and terminations.
Sarah works across the Financial Services team, advising on open-ended authorised funds, as well as closed-ended private funds and listed funds, giving her a valuable understanding into the industry as a whole. This helps to inform her practice and is especially pertinent for her clients who manage both open- and closed-ended funds, where Sarah can provide holistic advice.
Sarah’s recent experience includes:
- lead associate on the first three Sustainability Disclosure Requirements regime (SDR) labels in the industry
- advising on fund launches of both open- and closed-ended funds, including the launch of two real estate PAIFs with a social impact objective
- advising on fund changes, including investment, policy and name changes to UCITS and AIFs, change of AIFM of a UK listed fund, and scheme of arrangements for UCITS funds
- secondments to two top 50 UK asset managers by AUM in 2024 (according to the Investment Association)
- named in Legal 500 as a key lawyer in the Eversheds Sutherland retail funds team in 2024
- team ranked in Band 1 for open-ended/retail funds in Chambers and Legal 500
- Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Sarah read English Literature (BA) and English and American Studies (MA) at the University of Manchester, before completing the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law
- Sarah trained in-house at a leading global asset manager and qualified as a solicitor in April 2021
