Eversheds Sutherland strengthens its Commercial Department with two new PartnersMarch 04, 2024 Ireland’s largest and most established global law firm, Eversheds Sutherland, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Partners for its thriving Commercial Department Marie Claire Scullion has been appointed as a Partner in employment law and Seán Scally has been appointed as a new Partner and Head of Energy. Both have joined the firm’s Commercial Department within the firm’s Dublin office. Marie Claire is an employment specialist and brings to the firm over 18 years’ experience. She provides strategic and practical advice to domestic and international clients on all aspects of the employment relationship. She advises businesses on the day-to-day employment issues that arise and drafts contractual documentation and policies. Marie Claire also advises on the employment aspects of corporate transactions and guides employers through restructuring programs, and more contentious matters such as grievances, disciplinary matters, protected disclosures, redundancies, termination of employment and enforcement of post-termination restrictions. In addition, she is a tutor on the Law Society of Ireland’s professional practice course in employment law and is a member of the Anti-Bullying Centre’s advisory board. Seán Scally brings almost 15 years’ experience to the firm. He advises clients (developers, lenders, sponsors) on the development and financing of energy and infrastructure assets (conventional and renewable energy assets, data centers, telecoms, infrastructure, and PPPs), and advises buyers and sellers on the acquisition/disposal of these types of large-scale energy and infrastructure assets. He also has a particular specialism in the areas of electricity and gas market regulation and trading as well as having advised clients on a large number of corporate power purchase agreements in Ireland. In addition, before working in the legal sector, he completed his degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked in the medical device industry; this technical background is what sets him apart from his peers in the market. These latest senior appointments come at a time of sustained growth for the firm, further cementing its position as the largest and most established, full-service, global law firm on the island of Ireland, as well as enabling Eversheds Sutherland to maintain its market-leading position in the critical energy sector.
