Sophie advises on high profile corporate defence and advice on regulatory compliance. She has a particular experience in health and safety, fire safety and building safety, as well as inquest work. Sophie has represented both individuals and corporate entities through the regulatory investigation and court process and regularly deals with a variety of regulators, such as the HSE and local authorities. Sophie also regularly advises and attends inquests on behalf of clients.
Sophie’s recent experience includes acting for an individual following the Bosley Mill explosion resulting in an acquittal for the client, representing numerous higher education establishments following student deaths, providing compliance advice on fire safety and PEEPs, regularly preparing clients for sentencing in health and safety prosecutions, challenging and responding to enforcement notices and advising in investigations involving corporate manslaughter.
Sophie also regularly conducts compliance reviews for clients, working with clients to understand their business, testing the controls in place and finding innovative ways to fix the problems.
Sophie contributes to health and safety press and her articles have been published in industry magazines.
