With a background spanning both government service and private practice, he brings deep experience in IRS examinations, appeals, and litigation before the U.S. Tax Court, District Courts, and Bankruptcy Courts.
Before entering private practice, Joey served as a Senior Attorney with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel’s Large Business & International Division and as a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division. At the IRS, he advised revenue agents on complex audits involving Fortune 100 companies and tax issues such as transfer pricing, financial instruments, and international taxation. At the DOJ, he managed a diverse docket of tax cases, handling refund litigation, bankruptcy tax issues, and collection enforcement actions involving nominee and alter ego liens.
Now in private practice, Joey leverages his government experience to provide strategic and effective representation for clients facing IRS audits and appeals, criminal tax investigations, and litigation. His deep understanding of tax law and government procedures allows him to craft strong defenses and navigate clients through all stages of tax disputes.
