Andrew is a principal associate in our commercial practice and is based in the Abu Dhabi office.
Andrew focusses on TMT and IP matters across the MENA region. Andrew has over 10 years’ experience of contentious and non-contentious IT and IP work, including transactional work and significant IP litigation in the UK Court of Appeal, High Court and IPEC. Typical areas of IP advice include IT procurement contracts, commercialization agreements, trade mark and patent licenses, IP assignments and due diligence on IP matters (in particular software, OSS and escrow due diligence).

- acting for a major Middle Eastern bank on its IT acquisition contracts
- acting for a major Middle East telecoms company on a strategic IT system supply contract
- advising a global FINTECH company in the consumer credit sector on regulatory issues
- advising a major US company in the oil exploration sector on a complex IP licence
- acting for the UK Intellectual Property Office in successful court proceedings for trade mark infringement and passing off in relation to renewal reminder scams
- acting for a hi-tech manufacturer in a successful claim in relation to electronic circuit design and software, against both one of its former designers and a competitor company, which involved unregistered design right and copyright infringement and a dispute over ownership of those rights
- brand enforcement for major international brands, including action against the online sale of counterfeit products
Andrew has spoken on IP law and related issues at many public and education sector events, as well as providing internal training on design law.
