Maria Stratienko is a Senior Associate in Eversheds Sutherland's Capital Markets & Investments Practice Group.
She advises clients, including business development companies (BDCs), investment advisers and mutual funds, on a wide range of regulatory compliance, corporate governance and transactional matters.
Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Maria clerked for the Honorable Judge José M. López at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. During law school, she served as a legal extern in the Enforcement Division of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. She also served as Senior Projects Editor for the American University Law Review, worked as a research and teaching assistant for business associations courses, and volunteered as a law clerk for the International Narcotics and Money Laundering Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.
Before attending law school, Maria worked in the United States Senate for then-Senator Bill Nelson, serving both on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and in Senator Nelson’s personal office. As a legislative assistant on the committee, Maria led research and vetting efforts for nominees to federal agencies within the committee’s supervision and assisted in the drafting of critical legislation; in his personal office, she similarly led research and vetting efforts for judicial nominees to federal courts in Florida.
