Eversheds Sutherland Continues Strategic Litigation Expansion with Addition of Alexandra ChopinMarch 17, 2026 Washington | Eversheds Sutherland is pleased to announce that Alexandra Chopin has joined the firm as a partner in its Litigation Practice Group, becoming the 18th litigator added to the group in the past seven months. With a practice focused on high‑stakes commercial litigation, national security–adjacent disputes, and complex cross‑border matters, Ms. Chopin’s arrival builds on the firm’s ongoing litigation momentum and underscores its continued investment in expanding the depth, breadth, and sophistication of its global litigation platform. Ms. Chopin advises global financial institutions, central banks, multinational corporations, and foreign sovereign governments on high‑value international commercial, tort, and regulatory disputes and investigations, further enhancing the firm’s ability to support clients facing politically sensitive, multi-jurisdictional challenges that require coordinated global strategy and seamless cross‑practice execution. “Alex’s blend of skill, global perspective, and experience in high-stakes, cross-border matters makes her a valuable addition to our fast-growing litigation group,” said Lino Mendiola, Global Co‑CEO and US Chief Executive of Eversheds Sutherland. “We are intentionally building a platform that combines deep subject‑matter experience, global reach, and the ability to mobilize quickly across jurisdictions. That combination is what sets us apart and enables us to deliver strategic, integrated support for clients navigating complex matters.” Ms. Chopin is widely recognized for securing early dismissals by successfully challenging jurisdictions under the US Constitution and federal statutes with extraterritorial reach, including the Anti‑Terrorism Act (ATA) and the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (FSIA). She has litigated these issues before federal and state courts nationwide, including the US Supreme Court. “Alex is exactly the type of lawyer we are focused on attracting as we continue to deepen our litigation bench with preeminent practitioners,” said Michael Bahar and Olga Greenberg, US Co‑Heads of Global Litigation. “Her practice reflects the kind of complex, cross‑border disputes and investigations our clients increasingly face. Just as importantly, she values the collaborative, globally integrated model that allows our litigators to work seamlessly with colleagues across practices and regions, which is a key differentiator of our firm.” Ms. Chopin’s practice spans the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, and she frequently leads multidisciplinary teams handling parallel litigation, regulatory inquiries, and congressional or governmental investigations. She also has significant experience advising clients in the financial services, telecommunications, media, and technology sectors. “I was drawn to Eversheds Sutherland because of the firm’s clear commitment to building a deep, internationally connected litigation team,” said Chopin. “The platform, resources, and collaborative culture here allow lawyers to handle the most complex cross‑border disputes without the silos that often exist at other firms. That is a powerful advantage for clients and for the lawyers who serve them.” Ms. Chopin’s addition reflects the continued evolution of Eversheds Sutherland’s litigation platform, following the recent arrival of Partner Ellen Connell in Washington and earlier expansion in Silicon Valley with trial Partner Peter Meier. Together with the other additions in the past seven months, these hires demonstrate the firm’s deliberate approach to building a deep, complementary litigation bench equipped to handle the most sophisticated, high‑stakes disputes and regulatory matters across jurisdictions and practices. Ms. Chopin joins Eversheds Sutherland from Winston & Strawn, where she was a litigation partner. Latest Insights
