Eversheds Sutherland LLP further strengthens its growing Projects and Construction team

Kim O’Neill has been appointed as a new Partner in the Projects and Construction Group within the firm’s Dublin office, from 1 July.

Kim joins from another large Irish corporate firm and brings almost a decade of experience across construction, infrastructure and energy projects to the firm. Kim advises on the procurement, initiation and execution of construction, infrastructure and energy projects, as well as resolving disputes. In particular, she advises on large construction and infrastructure projects with a focus on renewables, communications, strategic infrastructure and Power Purchase Agreements. She also advises developers on the construction of large-scale commercial and residential developments, and buyers/sellers on the acquisitions, selling or funding of such projects.

Kim has advised several international property funds on various ongoing and past projects, both residential and commercial, throughout Ireland; on aspects of the Metrolink Project; on the conclusion of the contract for a new paediatric hospital; on the proposed offshore wind farm, Codling Wind Park; and on the construction of an energy provider’s power plant for a data centre.

Also last month (June), the firm welcomed Chelsey O’Doherty, Of Counsel, to the Projects and Construction team.

Chelsey joined the firm with over six years’ experience in construction, infrastructure and utilities, advising clients on the entire lifecycle of large infrastructure projects. Her primary focus is advising on energy construction and M&A (wind, solar, battery storage and hydrogen projects), as well as all aspects of social, transport and digital infrastructure projects, including concessions and PPPs. Chelsey is recommended as a key lawyer in the Legal 500 International Directory 2023 (Projects and Power Purchase Agreements area) and as a ‘Rising Star’ in Project Development in the IFLR1000 Legal Guide 2023.

These senior additions demonstrate the continued growth of Eversheds Sutherland’s Projects and Construction team. Following the recent appointments early this year of Seán Scally, as Partner and Head of Energy, and the addition of Alice Normoyle, as Solicitor, this dynamic team is helping to cement the Group’s market-leading position.
